Feast of Fields Vancouver

Feast of Fields is a wandering gourmet harvest festival that highlights the connections between farmers and chefs, field and table, and between farm folks and city folks. With a wine glass and linen napkin in hand, guests stroll across a farmer’s field, traveling from tent to tent listening to live music, and tasting gourmet creations from BC top chefs, farmers, fishers, ranchers, food artisans, vintners, brewers, distillers and other beverage producers. This year, the event is hosted at the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (CSFS), located at the UBC Farm, is a unique research centre that aims to understand and fundamentally transform local and global food systems towards a more sustainable, food secure future. The CSFS is a living laboratory, committed to finding solutions to both the local and global challenges facing food systems sustainability and translating solutions to improve personal, community, and environmental health. PEI Shellfish Festival

We're so proud of Junior Sous Chef Michelle Matheson, who has been invited to compete in the Garland Canada International Chef Challenge as part of the PEI Shellfish Festival! Think Chopped Canada meets real life. Twelve top chefs from across the globe compete head-to-head in this intense elimination cooking competition with $10,000 as a grand prize. This intense culinary competition is managed by the Culinary Institute of Canada. About Michelle: Michelle Matheson started cooking when she very young. As soon as she enrolled in High School, she made sure to take the 3 Culinary Program. She then in enrolled in the 2 year culinary program at the Culinary Institute of Canada after graduating high school. After graduating from the culinary arts program, Michelle enrolled in the pastry program to broaden her culinary skill set. She was additionally Junior Chef president for 2 years. Michelle has spent the past 4 years in BC cooking at the Wickaninnish Inn. She has competed all around Canada and Internationally. Awards/Acclamations: Gold Medal – 1st Course – Nations Cup,Michigan (2013) Bronze Medal – PEI Pastry Skills Competition (2013) Silver Medal – IKA Culinary Olympics (2012) Gold Medal – Atlantic Culinary Exhibition (2011)

The Phillips Brewing Company offers a diverse selection of their award winning beers to pair with chefs dishes. Left Field Cider and premium wines are featured for pairing with the cuisine of the day, a wide variety of quality non-alcoholic options are available to enjoy, and live music from The Electric Timber Company provides the soundtrack. Brewery & The Beast is committed to community. Each event provides funding and support to local and national, industry based foundations, charities, and scholarships. Beneficiaries include SAIT, Island Chefs Collaborative, BC Hospitality Foundation and the Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship Program.
