A family’s vision
Howard's Wine Cellar honours Dr. Howard McDiarmid and his son Charles, who shared a vision of creating a place on this headland where the beauty of the coast could be experienced and celebrated. Howard understood community and stewardship. Charles brought that vision to life. This cellar embodies their values through the act of gathering, bringing people together over wine that reflects care, quality, and a deep respect for those who craft it. The space continues what they began by sharing what is remarkable about this place with those who seek it.
Our collection
Sommelier Ike Seaman has built our collection of over seven hundred labels to mirror the culinary philosophy guiding The Pointe's kitchen: celebrate what is local and honour what is exceptional. British Columbia wines anchor the program, from small-production Okanagan estates to Vancouver Island expressions. International selections from Burgundy to Barolo provide education and comparison, helping guests understand BC's place in the larger conversation. Wine Spectator Magazine has recognized this curation with a Best of Award of Excellence. Our collection is accessible to all guests dining at The Pointe Restaurant, where sommeliers guide pairings that elevate both wine and cuisine.

Gatherings
At the heart of Howard's Wine Cellar sits a twenty-foot table carved from yellow cedar with kelp inlay artwork by Claire Watson. The space welcomes up to 20 guests, and here wine becomes conversation, where bottles are opened with intention and shared among those gathered. Floor-to-ceiling glass reveals three temperature-controlled rooms holding the collection, each bottle visible and waiting. The space welcomes intimate celebrations, milestone moments, and gatherings where wine and company elevate the occasion.
